Fossil Smartwatch Gen 4
With the conquest of the mobile technology market by smartwatches, almost every mobile equipment manufacturer has a smartwatch in its portfolio. I recently had the opportunity to test the newest Fossil Q Explorist HR model.
We can say that the Q Explorist HR is a flagship watch from the famous American manufacturer Fossil. How do they work in practice? You will find out by reading the review.
I have a little mixed feelings about the specs. On the one hand, we get 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, on the other, we get a slightly outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon 2100 processor. Although, in some of its latest smartwatches, Fossil already installs the Snapdragon 3100.
Other specifications include - NFC module, GPS, Bluetooth. Added to this is a 1.4-inch screen with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels and a density of 327ppi.
As far as smartwatches are concerned, manufacturers are not yet pleasing us with their packaging. In the case of the Fossil Q Explorist HR, we get a medium-sized box, which is a combination of plastic and thick cardboard. T Fossil Smartwatch Gen 4 hanks to the transparent window, we can see how the watch looks in practice before buying.
In general, everything is decent and quite standard. What will we find inside? First of all, the smartwatch itself, as well as a charger with a magnetic holder. There is no mains plug, so you have to use a smartphone charger.
The Fossil Q Explorist HR is one of the few smartwatches on the mobile market that fully meets my expectations in terms of looks and workmanship. The latest flagships from the American brand are extremely elegant, my test version came with a leather strap and a dark silver finish.
Without the slightest hindrance, you can use the gadget for more formal, elegant meetings. It is true that they have become thinner, but for me they are still quite large. On sale you can find several different versions both with a leather strap and a metal bracelet.
As for the manufacture, it is without objection. Large display, metal body, leather strap - each of the elements is of the highest possible quality. The Q Explorist HR watch has decreased in size compared to previous versions. Thanks to this, they have become more versatile.
It is worth noting that the strap can be replaced, especially since Fossil has decided on a standard width and fastening of 22 mm, so it will not be difficult for you to find a replacement.
On the front, we have a fairly large 1.4-inch screen. On the right, there are three physical keys - the top and bottom - these are regular buttons that can be personalized in software. The middle one is no longer personalized, but acts as a menu button (we go to the list of apps) and also return to the main watch face.
There is a microphone between the top and middle keys that allows you to use the Google Assistant voice assistant. The back of the smartwatch has a heart rate monitor as well as magnetic contacts for charging.
I want to note that the watch is to a certain extent waterproof - according to the manufacturer, this is 3ATM, which is actually just protection against accidental wetting.
The flagship Fossil Q Explorist HR was equipped with a 1.4-inch display. The screen operates at a maximum resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, which gives a density per inch of 327ppi. I will add that it is round, which is not so obvious for other manufacturers.
In fact, the panel fills almost the entire front of the device. There is a bezel ring around it, which, unfortunately, is not used in any way. Overall, in terms of ergonomics, everything works very well. The Q Explorist HR display responds quickly to commands without unnecessary delays. It is also protected by Gorilla Glass 4, has a high quality and sharpness of the picture.
