Test drive of the new Iveco Daily
It must be said that Iveco Daily cars occupy a special place in the history of the European automotive industry. Models under this name have been Iveco in ghana produced for 36 years, and since then more than 2.6 million cars have been produced, which are delivered to 110 countries of the world. Thus, the Daily is one of the most common light commercial vehicles. The first generation of the Daily appeared in 1978 (pictured). The second is fundamentally new (modernization does not count) - in 1999. And finally, the third was launched in series in June this year. The cars are produced in two factories: Iveco Suzzara in Italy and Iveco Vallodolid in Spain.
OUTSIDE AND INSIDE
The completely new, unusual and striking design of the car immediately attracts attention. Here, the various elements of the exterior are visually linked together. The plane of the windshield, edged with a wide black stripe, merges with the side windows. Then it kind of merges into the line formed by the headlights and radiator grill, as well as into the outside mirrors.
The shape of the rounded bonnet is cleverly designed for easy access to the engine. The bonnet is located above the two horizontal grille bars. The lower one, expanding strongly towards the plump fenders, as it were, emphasizes the stability of the machine. And behind the wheel arch, there is a wide horizontal pad on the cab.
The look of the new Daily is functional. For example, the headlights are positioned very high and pushed back to avoid damage from minor impacts. The increased glass area makes the cab brighter and improves visibility. Finally, the new cab design also improves the aerodynamics of the car, which is important.
On the new Daily, the driver's seating position and comfort are almost the same as on a good passenger car. Compared to the previous model, the seat is lowered by 15 mm. The steering wheel is 20mm smaller in diameter and 7 degrees closer to the upright position. The windshield is now 40 mm larger and its visibility is improved by 4 degrees. The ergonomics of the cab can be considered one of the best in the class. It is complemented by enhanced sound insulation and a more efficient climate control system.
