Xiaomi continues to set records for the cost of devices under its own brands. Sometimes it seems to me that in a couple of years this wonderful Chinese company will give away smartphones and accessories for free. Or even pay extra to customers so that they never cease to consider Xiaomi “top for their money”.
Recently, the long-awaited Redmi AirDots headphones came to me - the cheapest TW-option not only in the range of Xiaomi, but in general among all headphones with the name, and the younger brother of Xiaomi AirDots.
Cheaper or the same now is exclusively the Chinese brand name or dubious fakes for AirPods. And these headphones were bought by me out of strong curiosity - I was very interested in how TW-headphones look, feel and sound for $ 20, or 1,200 rubles. I hasten to share with you my impressions after several days with Redmi AirDots, and there is a lot to tell you about. Let's get started!
The first thing you pay attention to after unboxing the Redmi AirDots is the dimensions of the charging case. They are comparable to the dimensions of AirPods, and this is definitely a plus, since the case with the headphones fits into the pocket of jeans without any problems and does not create any discomfort. The complete set weighs 35 g, which is also almost not felt.
The case is made of matte black plastic, not of the highest quality. Even without really using the headphones, I found several scratches on the case. There is reason to believe that they were delivered at the plant. The plastic itself feels and looks rather cheap, there is a feeling of "Chinese". But, on the other hand, this is to be expected, because this is an ultra-economic option and does not cause any disgust at all.
The lid of the case has a rather strong magnet, no accidental opening occurs. When closed, it backlash and barely audible creaks - another cost cost. At the top there is a Redmi or Mi logo - I saw both options on sale, I got the first one. The technical data is listed below in Chinese, while the back is a microUSB port. By the way, there is no cable included with the headphones - a logical decision, given that users of such cables have a lot, and for the company it is still a few Chinese kopecks to save money.
The charging indicator is located on the front end: it con Super Bundle of Smartwatch and a free Wireless earphones sists of one LED and lights up red only when charging. It is impossible to find out the remaining charge of the case. You will have to navigate with the help of intuition or good memory, there are no other options. Support for wireless charging is expectedly absent, but it is also absent from the more expensive Xiaomi TW-headphones.
Headphone type - in-ear. Like the case, the headphones are made of matte black plastic, which readily picks up scratches even with careful use. The headphones are fixed in the case with magnets, while they do not fall out of there, even if you try to shake them out by force. However, it is inconvenient to get them, since there is really nothing to grab onto.
The silicone ear pads are dense, one might even say that they are harsh, but this does not cause much discomfort. They fit tightly in the ears, sound insulation is good, and the fit is comfortable. By default, the headphones have medium-sized ear pads, in the box there are reduced and enlarged earpieces. The headphones are protected from moisture according to the IPX4 protocol, that is, only from splashes. This means that getting caught in a light rain in them is not scary, but nothing more.
There is a mechanical button on the body of each earphone, and on it is an LED indicator. It glows red when the earbuds are charging and flickers white when connected to a sound source. The buttons on both earbuds are responsible for the same functions. A single press is play / pause or answer a call, a double press is to start the voice assistant, a second hold is to reject a call, a three-second hold is to force the headphone on or off. It is very strange that Xiaomi did not implement track switching, because it could, for example, be assigned to a second earpiece. And so for this you have to constantly take out a smartphone. Where is the logic - it is not clear. Regarding the buttons, I also note that on my copy, the key on the right earpiece periodically crunches, and on the left one does not. The buttons have a slightly different tactile stroke, although they look absolutely identical in appearance. This i
