Avid's innovative solutions have revolutionized multimedia, and numerous awards - 2 Oscars, Grammys and 12 Emmys - are clear evidence of this.
History of the development of digital audio
Avid was founded by Bill Warner in 1987, when he discovered a way to copy a videotape recording to digital media in real time. This discovery allowed video editing directors to use a computer to view, crop, and rearrange frames. This was the beginning of NLE - nonlinear editing technology - that will forever change the video editing process. Currently, the main product for digital video editing - Media Composer - is used by many world famous film studios.
So, already in the mid-90s, Avid's digital video editing products were recognized as the benchmark in the field of professional video editing. At the same time, Digidesign creates Pro Tools, the latest in audio products. Pro Tools, or “digital audio station” (DAW), quickly began to supplant standard tape studios, thereby completely changing the way audio was created and recorded. Realizing that digital au Avid Brand in Ghana dio and video are inextricably linked, Avid acquires Digidesign in 1995, consolidating its leadership position. Pro Tools software is now a big hit with digital audio professionals. In addition, the most famous melodies that we hear in movies, television series and reality shows are created using Pro Tools.
Since the mid-90s, active computerization of the business community began, which in turn led to the development of local area networks (LAN). As a leading provider of digital video and audio equipment, Avid set out to create technology that enables professionals in these two industries to collaborate on new projects. Indeed, when creating films, television broadcasts, and audio recording, many different specialists take part, who simultaneously perform each of their immediate tasks - for example, image editing, color correction, adding special effects, sound design, editing dialogs, recording and mixing.
In 1999 Avid introduces the first project collaboration network. So with the help of Unity MediaNet, many professionals can work and share files at the same time. Unity MediaNet is a real breakthrough, allowing producers to finish projects much faster than ever before.
This transition to joint work on media projects led to a radical change in understanding the true desires of users. And while the development of standalone audio and video products remained a major challenge, it was equally important to explore the complex process of creating a project from start to finish. It is through this philosophy and close collaboration with its users that Avid has been able to develop a number of innovative manufacturing asset management solutions, such as Interplay, the first non-linear system to provide a truly multi-resolution manufacturing environment. Since its introduction in 2006, Interplay has installed and actively used more than 500 production facilities around the world. Avid iNews, the computer system for the video journalism industry (NRCS) that maximizes the efficiency of creating, syncing content, and delivering news quickly and reliably.
In Russia, the First TV and Radio Broadcasting Channel acquired two 130-channel AVID System 5-B studios at once in 2008. Channel One covers four time zones and airs 65 hours of news programs per week.
The same AVID System 5-B console, only more modest with 48 faders, is used by the NTV channel - the only private federal channel that has earned its reputation on honest and accurate news broadcasts.
In St. Petersburg AVID consoles are used by the film studios RWS, Nevafilm and the Melnitsa animation studio System 5 with EuCon, a hybrid version to control Pro Tools and Pyramix Digital Audio Workstations.
Singer Valeria and SVIP studio installed AVID S5 Fusion for post-production of music videos.
From a team of enthusiasts to an entire corporation
In the development of digital media content, Avid has discovered a close connection between amateurs who create audio and video files for home viewing and professionals, authors of world blockbusters, hit songs and revolutionary new software. The connection is that today's amateurs are tomorrow's professionals, and professionals often turn into amateurs in their spare time.
